Key moment in yesterday's Wirecard court proceeding was when the company's Chief Accountant Z. told a stunned audience that "he did not look into the @FD article from 2019 once", which published a copy of his own financial income tables.

He continued to explain that he was "very upset" about Dan McCrums's article, since he thought they would need to verify their claims.
Again he told Wirecard court that he refused to look into the article, not even fact checking that they published an exact copy.
When asked whether he would have any issues at all with the spreadsheets, he told it was a lot of work to assemble them, and if they were wrong, it was not his fault.
When judge stated that "the spreadsheets were not wrong at all, which is actually the problem", witness Z. explained that he forwarded them for verification to von Erffa.

Witness Z. gave also very different account of testimony in court compared to what he told police at interrogations two years ago. Judge repeatedly reminded witness and cited previous statements, like his interactions with von Erffa, Bellenhaus and Marsalek at Wirecard.
When confronted with the derailed, sometimes contradictory statements here in court with those from a few years ago at police interrogation, Wirecard witness Z. oftentimes proclaimed he "would have no memory" of why it was mentioned like it was earlier by himself.
